E-Sport News: CS:GO – Late payments

James Banks, eSports commentator, host and journalist, points out in several Twitter posts that some tournament organisers do not pay on time.

The eSports industry is growing at a tremendous pace. Despite the boom, the market has some problems.

The problem with money

Banks explains in various postings that organisers fail to make payments on time. This fact would put him in a bad financial position. There would be payment delays of three, five and even more than six months.

He is tired of having to chase after them all the time and beg for the money he worked for. He also states he is afraid that he will not be hired again if he makes the public who owes him something.

He calls on eSports talents and teams who are struggling with similar problems, such as the late payment of prize money, to work together to solve the issue seriously.

He also reveals that his depression and anxiety would make it difficult for him to speak in public. Banks predicts that he could retire from the eSports business in 2020, as tournament organisers who might see this could decide not to hire him anymore instead of apologising.

However, the eSports commentator also highlights the excellent work of various organisers such as ESL, WePlay!, Eden Esports and Copenhagen Games and states: “Let’s not start a witch hunt, I just want US talents to work together in all games to work on this broader issue”.
