Blizzard working on Overwatch 2 – Stop Starcraft Shooter

There’s news from Blizzard. A well-informed journalist has found out that they are working on Overwatch 2.

For gamers, this is the most exciting time of the year: E3 is just around the corner. There’s never been so much news about video games as there is now. Not much is expected from Blizzard during this time because since Blizzcon has established itself, the developer announces his new releases right at the in-house fair. Nevertheless, some news from the development studio in Irvine will be spilling over the horizon, right into the lap of resourceful journalists.

Jason Schreier, the writer for Kotaku, is said to have found out in talks with Blizzard employees that a new Starcraft game had recently been pulled the plug. This should come as a first-person shooter on the market, similar to the Battlefield series.

Nobody was released in the course of the production stop. The employees were redistributed to other projects. One of them is Diablo 4, which was already teased on the last Blizzcon. But the second game in development will be very interesting for the eSports scene: Overwatch 2 – of course, the name isn’t final yet.

Publishing a sequel is very unusual, especially for eSports-focused titles. In addition, the release would also involve some changes for the athletes, as well as the production of the Overwatch League.

But the sequel would also reveal some chances; thus one should focus in Irvine with Overwatch 2 increasingly even on PvE content. Also, the developers could now already think more about the eSports aspect in advance, which has established itself as the driving force of the game.
