Shanghai (dpa) – After the regional qualifying tournaments the participants for “The International 2019” (TI9) are now determined. In addition to the already qualified twelve teams, another six teams were added to play for over 28.6 million US dollars at the Dota 2 World Cup in Shanghai.
The Chaos Esports Club qualified as the European representative and was most recently in conversation with Lasse Aukusti “Matumbaman” Urpalainen (24) because of his recent entry. Additionally, also a further German qualifies with the team for TI9. Maurice KheZu Gutmann (24) is team Captain and Offlaner for the chaos Esports club.
Beyond that Infamous secured itself the starting place for South America. For China, the regional E-Sport heavyweight Royal Never Give Up goes to the start. Mineski represents southeast Asia.
Natus Vincere, the 2011 World Champion, will represent the Commonwealth of Independent States as a region. Most of the teams who came to TI9 this weekend to buy their tickets for the regional qualifying tournaments had just missed out on direct access.
Previously, twelve teams had already qualified for the World Championship in August via the Dota Pro Circuit. The hottest contenders for the title are Team Secret, Virtus.pro and Vici Gaming, who lead the current world rankings by a wide margin.
