WSOP Main Event – Heidorn, Ensan and Co. continue on course

The battle for the most coveted trophy of the poker year is coming to ahead. 354 players were still there last night at the beginning of Day 5 of the WSOP Main Event. But not for all, the journey continues.

248 burst hopes …

Chipleader Dean Morrone showed how quickly hopes for the big success can burst. The 888 qualifier hardly got a foot on the ground and had to make do with place 159 and prize money of a good $59,000.

Many other well-known names such as Mike Matusow, Galen Hall, Matt Glantz, Olivier Busquet and Joseph Cheong were among the victims of the day, as were the Germans Christian Rudolph (342nd, $38.).240), Christian Stratmeyer (313., $38,240), Patrice Brandt (222., $50,855), Felix Bleiker (221., $50,855), Fabian Scherle (215., $50,855), Christian Liel (197., $50,855), Robin Hegele (168., $50,855), and Roland Rokita (148., $59,295).

Thomas Schröpfer, who unfortunately had to say goodbye shortly before the end of the match and received prize money of $59,295 in 114th place, was the last member of the DACH parliamentary group to win.

The man of the day was the American Timothy Su, who was able to collect an incredible 19.235 million chips and thus set himself apart from the rest of the field.

After an also powerful day 5, Sam Greenwood follows in second place, who now has to be considered one of the big favourites just because of his playing strength.

With Romain Lewis, Antonio Esfandiari, Chris Hunichen, Jake Schindler and Dario Sammartino, a few more celebrities will join in, but the German-speaking players also managed again to set several exclamation points.

Robert Heidorn could not defend place 7 of the day before, but on place 17 he is still brilliant in the race.

Hossein Ensan, Enrico Rudelitz, Thomer Pidun and Tobias Duthweiler, David Vedra, Henning Wendtland and Viktor Rau from the second half of the chip count will attack.

Eight German-speaking chances to reach the final table were rare at this stage of the Main Event, if at all. And it would undoubtedly be an absolute highlight of this WSOP if a DACH player reached the final table.

What happens on day 6?

But before that happens, the field will be reduced to 27 players on day 6. From rank 72 on, six-digit sums flow already, and on rank 27 you already get over $324,000 prize money.
