25-year-old Tom “Stokes” Stokes won the FIFA 19 Global Series Xbox Playoffs final duel 5-3 after two matches. Second-placed Donovan “Tekkz” Hunt, however, continues to lead the world rankings and is considered the favourite for the upcoming eWorld Cup.
Best German at the tournament was Niklas “NRaseck” Raseck, who only failed in the semi-final against Tekkz. The player from Recklinghausen surprisingly defeated his teammate Mossad “MSdossary” Aldossary in the quarter-finals, who still ranks second in the world. Both players were at the starting line for Rogue.
For many fans, however, the semi-final between Tekkz and Kurt “Kurt0411” Fenech (24) was the real highlight: Kurt was banned by EA from any FIFA tournaments for a long time – according to the player because in the past he was negative about the game developer and the development of FIFA. The Global Series was the first major FIFA 19 tournament in which Kurt took part and made it to the semi-finals.
MegaBit totally frustrated after last sixteen out
For the German champion Michael “MegaBit” Bittner was again already in the round of sixteen final end: The Werderaner lost to Kurt with 4:5 after two games.
Too little from the point of view of the German, who commented on the situation after the match on Twitter: “FIFA 19 always brings you to the limit. Throughout the year I have the feeling that at international tournaments I’m going to make it quite far, I have the level for it, but in the knockout rounds I lose again and again with one goal difference.”
Next weekend the playoffs for the PS4 will be played in Berlin. After that, the focus will be on the upcoming World Cup, the last big FIFA 19 tournament, before FIFA 20 comes into the shops and buries the current title.
