Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan has found a new team. The youngest eSports world champion and millionaire joins the two-time Dota world champion OG.
Exactly 34 days lay between SumaiL (then 16 years, 176 days) and Kyle “Bugha” Giersdorf (16 years, 210 days), the reigning Fortnite World Champion when both won their first World Championship title.
Thus, the Dota 2 professional is (or was) not only the youngest eSports World Champion, but the Pakistan-born US American is also the record holder in terms of a winning amount in the millions.
A record player for the record world champion
In recent years, the Dota player has been active for the well-known US organization Evil Genius and won his first and only Dota 2 World Championship in 2015. This was followed by a short guest appearance as a stand-in for the US organization Quincy Crew before the signing by OG.
OG is one of the most successful eSports organizations in the world and is the record holder for winning “The International” in Dota 2. Never before has a team won the title twice, let alone defending it in a row.
OG secured the World Championship title in both 2018 and 2019.
Roster, Roster change
With the commitment of SumaiL, the organisation reacts to the recent roster movements. Anathan “ana” Pham will not be competing in the current season, Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka has officially ended his career, and Sébastian “Ceb” Debs is stepping down from his active role on the team. This leaves only Johan “N0tail” Sundstein and Topia’s “Topson” Taavitsainen in the active roster. So far, it is not known who will fill the two remaining places in the team.
In 2020 the final of “The International” will take place in Europe for the first time since 2011. The Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm has been chosen as the venue for the end of August.
