WSOP Event #72 – Thomer Pidun in Day 2 at the Limit Hold’em WM!

Traditionally, the Limit Hold ’em Championship Event is the last $10,000 tournament before the Main Event. After the first 10 levels, US-Pro Eli Elezra is in an excellent position and can stay overnight on rank 3. Thomer Pidun is the only player to represent our colours.

Tuesday night the next World Championship Event of the World Series of Poker started at midnight in Las Vegas. We are looking for the Limit Hold ’em World Champion. As with all events in this category, there was $10,000 in chips (or 600 big blinds) at the start of the $60,000 event and ten levels of 60 minutes each were played.

Since the Late Registration is still open until the start of Day 2, we will have to wait for the final numbers and payouts. On day 1, 110 Limit experts bought into the tournament. Among them – as expected – of course, many of the well-known names, and also Thomer Pidun from Germany is still among the limit experts on the second day. He goes short from rank 44 with 39,000 (10 big blinds) into the next day.

Many of the big stars were directly left behind: Andre Akkari (BRA), Anthony Zinno (USA), Daniel Negreanu (Canada), David “ODB” Baker (USA) or Paul Volpe (USA). But there are also big names like Martin Kabrhel (CZE), Robert Mizrachi (USA), Shaun Deeb (USA), Josh Arieh (USA) or Juha Helppi (FIN).

Andrew Brown (USA) secured the chip lead with 337,000 (84.5 big blinds). From rank 3, former champion Eli Elezra (USA) tackles day 2 with 255,500 (64 big blinds).

Wednesday at 11 pm (CET), day 2 will continue in level 11 with blinds 2,000/4,000 (bets 4,000/8,000). On day 2, seven 90-minute levels will be played. The average is 129,412 (32.5 big blinds).
