But the girls from Istanbul cleaned it up. The team of Besiktas Esports won the Dreamhack Showdown Valencia in “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive”.
The event was a women’s tournament with prize money of 100,000 US dollars. The girls from the CS:GO team of the Turkish club from the Süper Lig kept the upper hand in an exciting final with 2:1 (16:10, 5:16, 16:9) against CLG Red.
Both teams had met before in the group stage, where Besiktas Esports beat CLG Red 16:8. So the question for the favourites in the grand final was settled. However, both teams were already regarded as hot contenders for the title before the tournament.
In the run-up to the tournament, there were some discussions about the women’s competition – e-sport tournaments are usually open to all genders. The Dreamhack Showdown Valencia 2019, however, is supposed to create a safe environment for existing and new female talents in the male-dominated CS:GO scene in which the players can compete against each other.
