Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Cup at a glance

The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Cup is a tournament series of Blick Esports Masters. In a total of 7 events, the participants fight for fame, honour and hefty prize money in the popular button smash game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The top 31 players and one wildcard participant will be invited to the Grand Finals.

Game Mode

Each tournament is played according to the double-elimination principle. This means that each player may lose once, in the second defeat the player is out. Played on the Nintendo Switch, which controller the players use, is left to them. In the 6 offline events, the players try to score as many points as possible to place in the top 32 and then participate in the Grand Finals.

The next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Cups

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Cup #5: The next Cup will take place on August 17th, 2019. The tournament will take place offline at the P9 Event Location in Biberist, Solothurn. The prize money is 1’000 CHF. You can find the registration link here.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Cup #6: The last cup before the Grand Finals will take place on 21st September 2019. The tournament will take place offline at the P9 Event Location, an abandoned paper mill in Biberist, Solothurn. The last opportunity for the participants to place among the top 32 and secure entry to the finals. The registration link can be found here.

Wildcard Qualifiers: The Wildcard Qualifiers will take place on 6th October 2019. Players can qualify for the final if they could not attend the previous events or did not achieve good results. It is the last chance for the players to get a place in the Grand Final. This event only takes place online. You can find the registration link here.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Grand Finals: On October 12th, 2019, the final and all deciding tournament will be held offline, also in Biberist, Solothurn. The Grand Final will have slightly different rules. The double-elimination principle will be maintained, but now a best-of-five will be played and not a best-of-3. At the Grand Final, there will be a bar, an outdoor area with a big screen for public viewing as well as a barbecue. In the hall itself, there will be a Super Smash Bros. fun tournament with small prizes, more setups for friendly games and a virtual reality corner with BeatSaber.

Prize money

The prize pool contains a total of CHF 10,000. At each tournament, CHF 1,500 will be distributed among the four best-placed players as follows:

1. 800 CHF
2. 400 CHF
3. 200 CHF
4. 100 CHF

The Grand Final prize money is a little higher. A total of CHF 2,500 will be distributed among the top four as follows.

1. 1’300.- CHF
2. 700 CHF
3. 250 CHF
4. 250 CHF

Winners of the previous Cups

The first four cups have already been played, followed by 2 until the Grand Final. Among the favourites in the tournament are “Destany”, the number one in Switzerland, “SevereCalamari”, the number two in Switzerland, “Crash”, “Jesuischoq”, and “DeepFreezeIV”. They are all at the top of the ranking and have already won medals and trophies.

The first Cup was won by “SevereCalamari” from Western Switzerland. After a neck-and-neck race against “Destany”, the Frenchman asserted himself and defeated the Swiss number one in Super Smash Bros.

In cup number two, “Destany” holds his own against “Benji” and shows everyone once again why he is Switzerland’s number one.

In the third Cup, we get visitors from France. “Jesuischoq” is considered the best Kirby player in France and one of the best Smash players in Europe. During his visit, he killed his opponents and took first place. His trip to Switzerland was worthwhile for him.

Cup number 4 secures “Crash” well deserved against “Destany”. During his previous participations in the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Cups Crash always made it into the top 4.
