The World Poker Tour DeepStacks Event #14 at King’s Resort Rozvadov was shuffled through on the final day. After the High Rollers had played six levels on day 1, three more players bought into the €2,750+250 tournament on day 2, three more made use of their re-entry.
Among the newcomers was the Lithuanian “SVARAS”, who, like Shortstack Pius Heinz, was supposed to roll up the field from behind. Only Sasa Lalos was able to stop them. For the Viennese, it is the second WPT title after the partypoker WPT 2015 in Vienna (Event #2).
The 33 participants and 6 re-entries generated a prize pool of €101,887, which the last four should share. But until then some of the 26 players who started on day 2 had to be eliminated. Those who still bought their way here had just under 30 BB to play with. Among the last 9 High Rollers, some players had fallen under their starting stack after day 1 and entered the race short. The Dutch Tobias Peters (4.) and the late starter “SVARAS” (3.) managed this particularly well. So they left the heads-up to the 2011 World Champion, Pius Heinz, and Sasa Lalos from Austria. Lalos was the only in-the-money player who started over average in day 2, while Pius Heinz played his way up from his initial 15 BBs to chip leader at the final table. The opponents finally agreed on a deal that secured Sasa Lalos the title and Pius Heinz the larger payout.
