Williams is defeated in Wimbledon finals

Serena Williams missed the victory in the Wimbledon final and thus the record victory. The 37-year-old lost against Simona Halep from Romania surprisingly one-sided with 2:6, 2:6.

Simona Halep left Serena Williams helpless. What she lacked to form for the 24th Grand Slam title even in Wimbledon could not be explained by the American. “I don’t know,” said the 37-year-old. “I have to find somehow another way to win a final.” She lost 3 finals in a row at the most important tournaments. Like a year ago against Angelique Kerber, Williams missed his goal against Halep. Williams is still missing a success at the Australian Margaret Court’s Grand Slam record.

At the US Open at the end of August, the seven-time Wimbledon winner can attack again. Maybe she needs more finals off the Grand Slams; still, she said but wants to limit her preparation for New York to 2 tournaments. In September she will be 38.

Within less than an hour, the match in Wimbledon was decided. Serena didn’t come into the match at all while Halep continued her run and played a breathtaking match.

The long-time number 1 had quickly found her smile after the defeat in front of her friends Duchess Meghan and Duchess Kate. She admitted to having to acknowledge the “best game of life” (Halep) of her opponent. Williams looked tidy and fair – and was far away from a scandal like in September when she lost at the US Open.
