Rugby World Cup – Wales eliminated in the quarter-final, Fiji

Wales and Australia have reached the quarter-finals of the Rugby World Cup in Japan. Scotland also remains in the race for a place among the last eight.

The Welsh defeated Fiji 29-17 (14-10) on Wednesday and, like the runners-up Australians, will not be able to be overshadowed by Group D’s top two places before the final matchday.

Josh Adams was an outstanding man in the ranks of the victorious Welsh, who made up for a 10-0 deficit, with three successful attempts in a row.

While Wales made it into the quarter-finals and will now face England or France, Fijians will be forced to make their way home early despite a good performance.

Scotland retains a chance of quarter-finals

Scotland defeated Russia 61-0 in Group A on Wednesday, with hosts Japan and Ireland fighting it out for two places in the quarter-finals.

England and France had already booked their tickets for the knockout rounds in Group C before. The Argentinians’ 47-17 win over the USA on Wednesday had no significance.

In Group B, South Africa have already reached the quarter-finals. Defending champions New Zealand can clear the quarter-finals with a win against Italy on Saturday (6:45 CEST).
