Vici Gaming has won the last big Dota 2 tournament with the Epicenter Major in Moscow before the World Championship in August. The Chinese defeated the American team Liquid 3:2 in front of largely empty ranks.
Already on Friday Team Liquid defeated Vici Gaming 1:2 in the Upper Bracket Final. With a clear 2-0 victory over Virtus.pro, however, the North American team could secure the chance of revenge.
In the best-of-5 final series, Team Liquid also failed to notice the recent change of players. In mid-June, Lasse Aukusti “Matumbaman” Urpalainen (24) left Urpalainen after four years with Team Liquid in the direction of Chaos Esports Club. New to the team is Aliwi “w33” Omar (24), who was previously active at Chaos Esports Club.
It was also a very eventful and exciting final series in which Vici Gaming mostly seemed to get the upper hand. The fact that the series nevertheless spanned the full five games shows the strong fighting spirit and great motivation in the ranks of Team Liquid.
Based on the results of the Epicenter Major, all twelve teams qualified for The International 2019 have also been selected. TNC Predator, OG, Alliance and Keen Gaming qualified after this tournament.
At the top of the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) 2018-19 are now Team Secret, Virtus.pro and Vici Gaming, who were able to secure 4950 DPC points in addition to 350,000 euros in prize money by winning the Major.
