Australia: Poker action in January 2020

In 2020 there will be a lot of news for poker players as the day after the Aussie Millions, which will take place at Crown Casino, Melbourne, from 4th to 24th January, the Australian Poker Open and a Super High Roller Bowl will begin at The Star Gold Coast in Queensland.

The poker tournament series in Down Under are now extremely popular. This year not only Melbourne but also Queensland will welcome the best poker players in the world.

Start into the new year with the Aussie Millions 2020

Poker players from all over the world will travel to Melbourne, Australia, in early January to take part in the Aussie Millions, a 21-day poker action-packed tournament.

Nearly 100 poker tables will be set up at Crown Casino. The organizer expects over 8,600 entrants to compete for more than AUD 30 million in prize money.

Joel Williams, Tournament Director of Crown Melbourne, comments:

“The Aussie Millions in 2019 saw records across the board. We could see previously unknown heights at the “Main Events”. We have re-established ourselves as the obligatory venue for high rollers. The total prize pool exceeded AUD 30 million, and the total turnout exceeded 8,600 – all to create probably the most memorable series in the history of Australian poker”.

Williams added, “January 2020 will once again offer Crown the opportunity to prove themselves as one of the top destinations for poker players, and they are ready to take up this challenge and work for the best possible result”.

This year’s Aussie Millions will also feature a matching event for all players. Bets start at AUD 1,150, and high rollers can participate in tournaments with buy-ins of up to AUD 100,000.

Australian Poker Open

Right after the Aussie Millions have ended, the Australian Poker Open and the Super High Roller Bowl, hosted by Poker Central, will kick-off for the first time on January 25th, 2023.

This high-profile poker tournament series will be held at The Star Gold Coast in Broadbeach, Queensland, and will attract high rollers in particular.

Buy-ins will start at AUD 10,000 and players will have to pay AUD 250,000 to participate in the Super High Roller Bowl on February 2nd.

The Schedule for the Australian Poker Open

January 25th: No-Limit Hold’em – AUD 10,000

January 26th: Pot-Limit Omaha – AUD 10,000

January 27th: No-Limit Hold’em – AUD 10,000

January 28th: Pot-Limit Omaha – AUD 25,000

January 29th: No-Limit Hold’em – AUD 25,000

January 30th: No-Limit Hold’em – AUD 50,000

January 31st: No-Limit Hold’em – AUD 100,000

February 2nd: Super High Roller Bowl – AUD 250,000

The tournament series will have a similar structure to the British Poker Open. Each event will have a timeframe of two days. The Super High Roller Bowl will last three days.
