For most people, quarantine is boring in the long run. The Polish government reacts and organises an Esport tournament to keep young people at home.
With “Grarantanna”, the Polish Ministry for Digital Affairs has launched a website where Polish pupils can register for tournaments in games like CS:GO or FIFA20.
Although the site points out that time can also be used to learn. But in the remaining free time, the pupils should be occupied with the Esport tournaments. The plan is to encourage young people to stay at home.
Linked is the ESL tournament page. On this page, it is even announced that well-known Polish Esportlers such as CS legend Jarosław “pashaBiceps” Jarząbkowski will take part in the action.
The president is also behind the project
The government is even going one step further towards the tournament’s young target group. On the TikTok platform, there was an account of the Polish president Andrzej Duda for a short time. There he published a video announcing the tournament.
Esport as help in quarantine
This is not the first time that organisers have seen tournaments being held due to coronavirus. Only recently, a Counter-Strike tournament was announced, in which many Eastern European stars and Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev’s brother will participate.
All donations and the prize money will be donated to aid organisations.
