5th matchday of the LEC powered by Shell

On the 5th matchday of the LEC, there were three teams in the focus of the spectators: G2 Esports, Fnatic and Splyce. Especially the duel at the top between G2 Esports and Fnatic was characterized by a lively exchange of blows.

In the first confrontation in the course of the summer split, Fnatic emerged as the winner.

The defeat of the big competitor on the fourth matchday had helped G2 to the first place in the league thanks to the help of Splyce on points with Fnatic. Last weekend it should go even better for the boys of coach Fabian “GrabbZ” Lohmann.

Friday, matchday 5 of the LEC: Second defeat of Fnatic

Already in the run-up to the fifth matchday, there was a lot of movement within the individual teams. Especially in Misfits Gaming, there was a big change – Misfits Academy players replaced the whole starting roster of the LEC team.

Also, Fnatic had to do without his star player Rekkles. Instead, Nemesis changed to the Botlane and took over the role of the ADC, while MagiFelix of the in-house junior team Fnatic Rising was used on the Midlane.

However, the two teams were not helped by the colourful waffling: both Misfits and – surprisingly – Fnatic lost their match against the competition of Splyce and Rogue respectively.

In the other matches, there was no surprise at all: Schalke beat Team Vitality and secured important points in the race for the playoffs. G2 Esports moved to the top of the table after winning against Excel Esports, and Origen triumphed in the duel with SK Gaming.

Saturday, Matchday 5 of the LEC: Top duel G2 Esports against Splyce

On Saturday, all eyes were on the last duel of the matchday: G2 Esports against Splyce, the first placed against the third. The outcome of this duel was already considered groundbreaking for the upcoming Summer-Split Playoffs, although there are still a few games left on the sheet.

G2 finally defeated Splyce in their usual manner in an exciting and worth seeing game, thus consolidating their place in the sun. Fnatic could make up for Friday’s faux pas in the previous game and beat SK Gaming, but the reigning vice world champion is now lagging G2 Esports (9W/1L) with eight wins and two defeats.

The leader of the table has only lost one game in the entire Summer Split so far – the one against Fnatic.

In the other games, there was a surprise when Misfits Gaming managed to defeat Rogue’s LEC team despite the internal reshuffle. Further results: Schalke beats Excel and Vitalty triumphs surprisingly against Origen.

Outlook: The top match of the 6th matchday of the LEC

Schalke 04 against Splyce – once again Splyce moves into the centre of interest. With a win against Schalke, Splyce wants to try to stay at the top and possibly catch up with Fnatic and with a bit of luck with G2 Esports. On the other hand, Schalke is trying to collect the important points for the upcoming Summer Split Playoffs.
