Hypno, e-athlete at Lausanne Esports, finishes fifth on the Masters Tour to “Hearthstone”. He talks about his impressions in Las Vegas.
Yoann “Hypno” Pfersich is now one of the best “Hearthstone” players in Europe. “Hearthstone” is an online card game. At the weekend, the e-athlete from Lausanne Esports virtually drew cards against the world’s top players on the Masters Tour in Las Vegas.
A total of 250,000 dollars was at stake. More than 300 players had qualified. “The pressure to qualify almost tore me apart,” says Hypno the day after the tournament. He made it into the top 8 in the end, “After that, I was more relaxed.” His key to success? “My decks were solid, and the personal touch I gave them made all the difference. I stayed very focused, too”.
100’000 dollars for the winner
Hypno, the best European in the competition, took an impressive fifth place, winning more than $16,000 for himself and his club – a jackpot win for him. “It’s incredible, and I still can’t believe it. I am very proud of this trip and that there was talk about Switzerland and Lausanne Esports.
None other than the tournament winner eliminated the Lausanne player. The American David “Dog” Caero lost twice against Hypno in the preliminary rounds, but in the third decisive game, Caero defeated the Swiss player two to one. “I have no regrets, even if the decisive set was in Dog’s favour in the end,” says Hypno. Dog took home 100,000 dollars as the winner.
Big goals
The Lausanne player received a lot of support during the tournament. “I received a lot of news that touched me very much. A big thank you to Lausanne Esports and President Torrix, who gave me great confidence by sending me to Las Vegas”.
Hypno does not want to rest on its laurels for the future. He has already qualified for the next Masters Tour in Seoul. “My goal is to play in the Grand Masters league, where only the best of the best Hearthstone players are in.
