The race for the election of the President of the United States of America goes into a next round. After the Republican Donald Trump won the last election, the question arises again in 2020: Who will move into the White House?
A Democratic candidate is particularly eager to be elected by poker players: Andrew Yang. The former startup founder and attorney at law have commented extensively on Twitter on the current legal situation regarding online poker in the USA.
“Online poker is legal in four states. The local rules of each state are very different and bring many players to play poker on foreign sites. We should legalize online poker in all 50 states and ensure clear rules. US players and companies would benefit, and the tax revenues we generate would help us fight gambling addiction.” – Andrew Yang
This is well received by many from the poker community. The confusing rules in the (federal) states are opaque and limiting in the first place, and therefore a big thorn in the side of the players. They either have the choice to live abroad and play from there, or they stay in the USA and use the existing offers in a few states.
Or they can still play in the USA with the help of technical possibilities and thus enter a certain grey area in which they do not know what rights they have vis-à-vis whom.
Daniel Negreanu got in touch with Andrew Yang through the tweet and spoke to him on the phone, writing: “Andrew Yang understands. People find a way to play when they want. There’s no other way than to legalize the game and get taxpayers’ money into the US states, which didn’t exist before.”
So it remains to be seen how the Democratic race develops and whether Yang has the potential to become Donald Trump’s challenger. Then Yang, the poker friend, would have the HeadsUp of his life.
