What Is Bridge-Jumper?

Bridge-Jumper is the slang term that refers to a person who likes to place a bet of a large amount of money. This is commonly done, placing a bet on a single horse during horse racing. This term also has an implication that there is a possibility to lose, so the gambler can just run and jump off to the nearest bridge if it happens. Bridge-jumpers can place a wager as high as hundreds of thousands.

Bridge-Jumper Explained

A Bridge-Jumper may happen on any track, but it is a rare event to happen.

Every player knows that the race game is already becoming a “Bridge-Jumper event.” How? This happens when the money being wagered goes from standard, and then it instantly increases into the higher levels. This process of betting is made on a six-horse race event when the player sees that there is one contender that stands-out and is believed to be included in the top three, which is when the bet begins to increase.

While the amount to bet may differ, you are already a Bridge-Jumper when you are betting an amount above $100,000. Anyone could just imagine the devastating scenario when the Bridge-Jumper’s horse never makes it to the top three. That is indeed an upsetting financial blow.

Since the Bridge-Jumper’s horse didn’t make it to the top, their great loss will be a huge payoff for another bettor’s horse. If it happens, you can never stop people from teasing the losing bettor to find the nearest bridge and jump off there to end the misery they are in due to their loss. It is a joke of course, and it is up to that person whether he will take it seriously (we hope he will not!).
To avoid getting into that state of misery, people would tend to apply an advanced strategy. Some would then be seeking help or hints from social media for a sure win. Some would also do further research before placing a large amount on their bet.

Show-pools for horse racing events have a so-called mandatory payout. This means that despite the actual odds being low if you become successful on your bet, you are eligible to receive a small return from the placed bet. But if the odds have made you ‘Minus Pool’, then you are indeed a lucky bettor. The winnings that a Bridge-Jumper will receive will be higher compared to the takeout money that the track will have.
