Gamescom 2019: The most important eSport events at a glance

The gamescom in Cologne is not only one of the world’s largest games fairs, but also the venue for a wide variety of eSports events every year. We list the most important of them.

Gamescom is more than just new games and cosplay. Every year, a wide variety of developers organise some important and some curious competitions. This time there will be several final games, the start of the new season in Splatoon 2 and even the Farming Simulator league will be at the fair.

LoL Premier Tour – Gamescom Event Arena (Hall 11.3) – starting at 10 am.

At Gamescom, the Premier Tour season comes to an end. Only the final will be played in Cologne. The prize money is 74.000 Euro and a place for the group phase of the European Masters. In the final are mousesports and BIG. You can find more information here.

ESL Championship – Thursday 22. August

Two finals are scheduled in the ESLM at the fair: In the summer season the teams of CS:GO and League of Legends fight for the cup. In CS:GO, ALTERNATE aTTaX and Sprout will meet at 11:30 am in the gamescom Event Arena (Hall 11.3). At 4:15 pm the LoL finals will continue. However, this will take place in Hall 8 in the ESL Arena. Here Euronics Gaming and Schalke 04 eSports Evolution fight for the title.

FIFA 19 Cologne Cup – ESL Arena (Hall 8)

ESL is also offering a FIFA tournament with worldwide qualification this year and is organising the final matches at the fair. The 16 participants will play for a prize pool of 27,000 euros. Probably the tournament will take place in the ESL-Arena, but when is not known yet.

Madden German Supercup – MediaMarkt (Hall 10.1) – Wednesday 21st August 4-5:30 pm

Also this year it comes again to the showdown of the German Maddenzocker. Two players qualified via online tournaments and fight at gamescom for a TV worth over 1,200 Euros and a show match against coach Esume.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Invitational – Nintendo booth (Hall 9) – Thursday 22 August

For its part, Nintendo is organising two eSport competitions at the fair. The game developer himself invites four players for the invitational, four more qualified by community voting. There is a ticket for the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Challenge Cup in Kyoto to be won.

Splatoon 2 European Championship – Nintendo booth (Hall 9) – Friday 23 August

Splatoon starts a new season at Gamescom. Visitors to Gamescom can follow the first rounds of European qualification at the Nintendo stand. Unfortunately, not much more is known yet.

Magenta eTrophy – Gamescom Event Arena (Hall 11.3), Saturday 24 August

Deutsche Telekom is organising three finals at the fair. In Clash Royale as well as in LoL and FIFA, the qualifiers found via online qualifiers will play for victory. After all, there is 1,000 euros in prize money to be won and a show match against the respective professionals from SK Gaming. Farming Simulator League – (hall 6 booth 060) – no exact date For all friends of the unusual eSport this tournament is worth a second look.

The Farming Simulator league will be making a stop at the fair. After all, it’s about 12,000 Euro prize money and important points in the ranking. It’s the second stop of the season and so for teams like “Landwirtschaft 3.0” and “Die Landeier” everything is still possible.
