Euronics Gaming reaches ESL Championship final games

Who goes to the final games of gamescom and who has to go to the relegation? These questions were answered on the last matchday of the ESL Championship. In the end, Euronics Gaming was allowed to celebrate, for this, the players had to thank mousesports.

Before the last matchday in Germany’s top league for League of Legends ad hoc gaming, Schalke 04 Evolution and mousesports had already secured their tickets for the final matches. Only Euronics Gaming and Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition were still in the race for fourth and last place. The junior unicorns team was three points ahead. In the long-distance duel, the goal was to maintain their own lead. UOL had to go against mousesports and ESG against Schalke.

The two competitors were not in a giving mood on the last matchday: Schalke 04 Evolution and mousesports defeated their respective opponents clearly in the first leg. The squires showed a good understanding of team shifts on the map, while mousesports built up a gold lead through battles and won safely.

No risk at all

In the second leg, one of the two matches showed a similar game. Once again, mousesports’ individual class surpassed that of the competition and helped the team to the lead. Although the Unicorns, true to their well-known LCS motto, did not let themselves be defeated and went courageously into the fights. They could only delay the second defeat in the end. Now they had to wait and see how the competition fought.

And as Euronics Gaming fought, UOL couldn’t like it. Both teams made good moves, but ESG slowly went away. As their champion composition was stronger, a relatively one-sided game developed. Schalke held up well at times, but couldn’t turn the game around because ESG didn’t take any risks. It took 40 minutes for ESG to win, but the team couldn’t care less. Now equal on points with the Unicorns, it depended on the direct comparison. Euronics Gaming had won it thanks to faster winning time, and so it was: off to the final games.

AeQ has to go down, SK fears

At the bottom of the table, SK Gaming Prime did not get past a 1-1 win against OP Innogy esports. After a disappointing season, the runners-up must, therefore, be relegated. There they keep Penta company 1860. The ambitious team lost 0:2 to BIG on the last matchday and thus remains in 9th place. Aequilibritas eSports has relegated directly. The constant underdog will be replaced in the winter season by Team GamerLegion.
