Microgaming’s new Switch Studios debut with Online Roulette

Since Wednesday, online casino players have been able to find the latest long-awaited products from the internationally renowned game developer Microgaming online. The newly opened Switch Studios in the English city of Ipswich will revolutionize online table games with the latest technology.

Tailor-made online games

As part of the annual SiGMA (Summit of iGaming Malta) gaming fair, game developer Microgaming presented its latest online table games last November.
Visitors to the Microgaming stand were able to gain their first insights into individual demos. The anticipation of the official release of the first roulette games was accordingly great.
With the new product line of Microgaming Switch Studios, the company wants to bring customized casino games to the market that adapt to the needs of the players.
In concrete terms, this involves the use of the very latest technologies for mobile gaming and a greater variety of game modes and game settings.

These are the games

Two versions of the popular online roulette game make the beginning of the new Switch Studios game series. The games should be realistic. For this reason, the developers rely on 3D technologies, for example, to make the course of the roulette ball as natural as possible.
Also in terms of design and sound, Microgaming wanted to surpass all existing online roulette games with its latest creation. The first two games (Roulette and American Roulette) can be played both on the desktop PC and on mobile devices.
In terms of content, the games are intended to provide the widest possible selection of possible bets, including so-called special bets, favourite bets, and the popular racetrack bets.

Racetrack bets allow players to bet on a group of numbers from the Roulette wheel. For this, an additional oval number area is added next to the table, which resembles a racetrack visually. The numbers there are arranged in such a way, as they occur also in the cauldron so that the desired bet can be placed on a row of neighbouring numbers as fast as possible and without large search.
The first Switch Studios game is called Roulette and was designed primarily for the mobile online casino market. The game automatically adapts to both portrait and landscape format of the respective mobile devices.

The volatility of the game is classified as low and the payout rate is fixed at 97.3%. Stakes between 0.25 and 125 euros are possible, with the maximum prize set at 64,500 euros.
The second game in the new series is the related American Roulette. Both the technical requirements and the content features of the two roulette variants are the same.
In American Roulette, however, the payout ratio is somewhat lower at 94.74%, but the maximum possible win is significantly higher at 71,625 Euros. However, the volatility and betting limits also correspond to those of the first game.

Market leader Microgaming

Microgaming, officially Microgaming Software Systems Ltd, was the first company in the world to launch online casino products in 1994. Ten years later, the first development of mobile casino games followed. This made the company the absolute avant-garde in the industry.
The company’s headquarters is still located on the Isle of Man in the Irish Sea. Although Microgaming also developed table and card games from the very beginning, the name today stands primarily for online video slot machines.
Especially since 2016, numerous well-known online slots have been created in cooperation with the four previous Microgaming Studios (Slingshot Studios, Starcraft Studios (South Africa), Triple Edge Studios (Florida) and Fortune Factory Studios).
With the new Switch Studios, Microgaming could perhaps also become a global market leader in table games in the future.
