In April 2007, six entrepreneurs start Presidio Media. These include Justin Waldron, Mark Pincus, Andrew Trader and Michael Luxton. The company’s name change to Zynga takes place in July 2007. The new name, inspired by the American bulldog of Pincus called Zinga. It explains why the logo of the company is a bulldog.

The first game release takes place on July 2007 on Facebook. It’s a Texas Hold’Em Poker-styled game called Zynga Poker. In April 2009, Zynga becomes the app developer on Facebook that attracts the highest number of active monthly users. The number of users for the month reaches 40 million people.

FarmVille

Brian Reynolds leads the first game studio opened by the company in Baltimore. In June 2009 the company acquires MyMiniLife, which enables it to develop and launch FarmVille. The game becomes the first on Facebook to attract over 10 million users per day.

By February 2010, over 80 million players enjoy the game, and Zynga enters a five-year partnership with Facebook to expand the use of Facebook credits on their games. On the 23rd of November 2009, FarmVille becomes the first stand-alone Zynga game.

Great surprise follows when CityVille overtakes the popularity of FarmVille in December 2010. The new leading game appeals to more than 61 million active monthly players and attracts 16 million daily users.

Zynga With Friends Network

Zynga announces its new Zynga With Friends network on the 26th of October 2012 that aims to connect players across all platforms. At the same time, the company also reveals its Zynga API, which intends to help other developers to create social games. The company already reached its 2,000-employee mark in July 2011, when it starts trading on the NASDAQ.

Zynga Partners with Bwin Party

Zynga partners with bwin.party in 2012. It is the first partnership with a real-money gaming operator, and it enables the company to release their games in a real money version. The games include over 180 casino games, and the first FarmVille-inspired real money slot launch takes place in 2013.

New Headquarters in San Francisco

After first renting the premises, the company purchased the building from Sega in 2010 for $228 million. The floor size of 407,000 square fee offers the company all the space it needs to create an employee and family-friendly space. Zynga starts moving some of its employees in 2011 to the new San Francisco headquarters, which is called the Dog House.

It offers a gaming arcade, coffee shop, wellness centre, gaming arcade and basketball court. The company creates a playful environment that represents a fantasy land that inspires its team. Employee perks include access to personal training, an in-house nutritionist and free gourmet meals.

Games

Online and mobile players love the huge range of Zynga games. Popular Facebook games include Hit it Rich Casino Slot, Princess Bride Slots, Wizard of Oz slots and Zynga Poker. In 2018 Zynga had a revenue of 907.208 million with a net income of 15.46 million. The users total reached 88 million active monthly users, and the active daily users total was over 23 million.
