National Gaming Authority
The National Gaming Authority (ANJ)
Since January 1st, 2023, ARJEL has become ANJ. This new independent administrative entity will be responsible, like its predecessor, for regulating the online gambling market.
What does this change?
The entity will be endowed with more power to exercise its regulation. Especially from the point of view of physical games of chance. Sports betting sites and their bonuses will therefore be subject to even greater scrutiny.
The regulation of online games
All sports betting sites will have to follow the new guidelines of the ANJ to be in compliance. The operating and organizational procedures of the ANJ, as well as its control and sanction powers, will be expanded for better control of activities. A decree of April 28, 2023 specifies the terms of making the bookmakers' game offer available. As in the past, only approved operators can offer online games, according to certain conditions.
A few conditions....
- A sanction procedure is applicable to operators.
- The electronic data stored by the operators will be subject to regular checks.
- Horse racing and sports betting, as well as poker, are authorized online. Other casino games are excluded from the opening, as well as draw and scratch games, which remain the monopoly of La Française des jeux.
