At a local game tournament to “Smash Bros. Ultimate”, a teenager defeats a professional player. Now the 15-year-old regrets her victory.
The competitive scene for the fighting game “Smash Bros. Ultimate” recently experienced a sensation: A 15-year-old girl named Bocchi won a local tournament in the New York area. The streamer made it to the quarter-finals, where she met professional Elliot “Ally” Carroza-Oyarce.
The 28-year-old e-athlete is regarded as one of the best “Smash” players and has numerous tournament victories to his name. Ally and Bocchi played a best-of-three series. In the last game, Bocchi won the set and jumped through the hall with joy.
Break from the “Smash” scene
But not everyone shared the joy. There were comments from people who did not want to acknowledge the victory of the 15-year-old. The gamer was also confronted with sexist comments on Twitter.
The mobbing went so far that Bocchi, according to Twitter, is considering putting her e-sport career on hold. “The worst thing is to be a girl in this scene,” she wrote in another tweet. Nevertheless, Bocchi gets a lot of support and positive encouragement from most of the “Smash” community. For this reason, she wants to continue playing “Smash Bros.”, but stays away from the competitive scene for the time being.
