The 19-year-old Kinstaar from Freiburg has qualified twice for the upcoming “Fortnite” World Championships. This is how he feels before the mega-event.
It is a sensation. The 19-year-old Duong “Kinstaar” Huynh from Freiburg will take part in the “Fortnite” World Championship in New York next weekend. The star of the European e-sports team Solary has qualified for both the Solo and the Duo World Championships.
The final matches will take place on 27th and 28th July. The winners can look forward to a million prize money. 20 minutes before the World Cup, he spoke to the Frenchman.
Kinstaar, what was the first game that fascinated you?
It all started with “Counter-Strike 1.6”. With this game, I discovered my passion for competitive play.
You will play at the World Cup in front of an audience of millions. How do you deal with this pressure?
I try to handle it the same way as in previous tournaments: I’m alive right now. I don’t care about the rest.
Where does your pseudonym come from?
I stole it from my cousin, who called himself Hastaar.
What is your favourite weapon in “Fortnite”?
The Deagle, because of the high damage.
A weakness in the game you have to work on?
The beginning of the game, the spawn [Editor’s note: the drop point on the map]. This is the most dangerous moment for me.
Who has a chance to win the solo final?
Apart from me, I would say that it will certainly be a European who wins. We all seem to be very well prepared.
Which duo has the best chances of winning the title?
The Americans are very strong in this discipline. But I don’t have a special favourite in the duos.
What will you do with the money if you win?
I will primarily share the money with my family and maybe also invest a part of it.
Swiss at the World Cup
Freiburg’s Kinstaar is the only Swiss to have qualified for both the Solo and the Duo World Championships. A total of four other Swiss won a ticket to the World Cup. The Geneva Airwaks (as a duo with his French teammate Nikof), the Neuchâtel Vato (who will be part of the team with the French Skite), the Vaud 4zr (as part of the team with Noward from Belgium) and the German-Swiss Issa, who will be playing in the solo final, will also be there.
