What Is Yo ?

Yoleven is a term often used in casinos and usually shortened to simply ‘yo’. The term was coined by players who didn’t want to confuse the words seven and eleven when spoken aloud. Since casinos are so loud and chaotic, players wanted a term that made it clear which number they were talking about.

Casino staff members, including game dealers, often sided with the casino if a dealer misunderstood a player’s spoken bet. This clears up any ambiguities and prevents players and dealers from getting into arguments over what was said and what was meant. When a player wants to bet eleven, they use the word yo so dealers don’t mistakenly hear the word seven. Players and dealers have agreed that yo is quicker to speak than yoleven.

In most cases, this term is used in dice games. However, it can be applied to other types of casino games when bets are being placed. One of the games this term is used in is Poker. It can also be used when betting in a Roulette game. Players can use it when predicting where the ball will land on the wheel. However, it is not used as often in Roulette, since each player can see where the ball lands. The chances of confusing seven with eleven in Roulette are lower than in Poker and dice games. This is because once the wheel has stopped spinning it will remain still; there is no ambiguity about the number it has landed on.

Those who play Poker at home rarely use this term. It is most often used at loud casinos and is virtually unknown to those who only gamble online. Therefore, yo is a term that not all table game players are familiar with.
