What Is Heads Up ?

Another term meaning head-to-head is ‘heads up’. It refers to when a playoff between two players is taking place. ‘Heads up’ can occur between the dealer and the player like in Blackjack, or among two players like in Poker. In Poker, in order to increase the stakes, you could say that the players are going heads up when all but the last two have folded. In slot games and video Poker, players go ‘heads up’ against the random number generator of the computer, rather than real opponents.

‘Heads up’ is a commonly used phrase in Poker, describing two players who are in direct competition with each other. Heads Up Poker is a version of the game particularly fashioned for two players only. The rules are similar to those of standard poker, with the exception of the reversal for the blinds in order to earn the benefits. Heads up Poker can be played at both larger games or even quieter tables, or even during a tournament. This can occur when all other players have folded and pulled out, leaving the two players wanting to continue the game and raise the stakes. To get to a ‘head up’ stage is an essential part of the game strategy for many experienced players.

A ‘heads up’ match is said to occur when competition takes place between two people in any poker contest within betting and wider sports. Many games in the casino are also played in the style of heads up, including Blackjack, where there are many players at the table but, the play is always between the dealer and an individual player. Casino War is another form of ‘heads up’, played one-on-one, in casinos, among their patrons.
