What is Aces and Faces ?

‘Aces and Faces’ is usually played with a standard deck that consists of 52 cards where five cards will be dealt in the first hand. Players can hold as many cards as they want so that they can build the strongest hand. Then, the remaining card is discarded and replaced with a new set coming from a similar playing deck.
‘Aces and Faces’ is the combination of Aces and other face cards such as Queens, Jacks, and Kings. It represents an exceptionally strong hand in Poker making it a desirable and interesting hand to get. On the other hand, this term more often refers to a type of video Poker which is a variation of Better or 8/5 Jacks that can grant a bonus for a four-of-a-kind.

Aces and Faces Explained

‘Aces and Faces’ is based on Better or Jacks type of play. From the name itself, the payoff on this game will be tied up to the combinations of Aces and face cards that starts with the pair of Jacks. It has higher payouts for four-of-a-kind combinations in Aces, Queens, Kings, and Jacks. There will be no wild-cards, and both minimum and maximum payouts are determined and set by the casino.

To play the game, the player should be dealt five cards from a deck and decide which cards to hold as well as which cards will be discarded and replaced with random cards coming from the same deck. This is to get the best hand possible.

The better the hand, the bigger the payout the player could receive. The 8/5 indicates the payout for the Full House and Flush. Respectively, the player could get eight times the stake for a Full House and then, five times for a Flush. To get a payout, the player has to get a pair of Jacks or any other higher-scoring Poker hand.

The difference between ‘Aces and Faces’ and other video poker games is that there is an increase in the reward for four-of-a-kind hands of Aces, Queens, Kings, or Jacks. A lower payout is generally set for Pairs, Flushes, and Straights while higher payouts are given to four-of-a-kind combinations. Therefore, the player should look for any four-of-a-kind. However, the ‘Aces and Faces’ offer the highest payout. Thus, a player should never break up a deal with a paying hand unless there are four of the five cards for the Royal Flush.
