Team Europe will have to give up Rafael Nadal at the Laver Cup of tennis pros on the final day. The US Open champion is struggling with inflammation in his hand and therefore has to pass for his singles and doubles.
“I would have loved to continue playing because the atmosphere here in Geneva is incredible,” said the Spaniard. “But I have to give my hand a little rest.”
Nadal had won against the Canadian Milos Raonic in two sets on Saturday. On Sunday the Austrian Dominic Thiem will play for the Mallorquin in the singles. The Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas will be joining Roger Federer in the doubles for Nadal.
After the second day, Team Europa leads the world selection with 7:5. On the third day, every victory brings three points.
